MORE RELATED JCOM MOVIE ART Towers of Mars by Kurt Metz, animator Kurt Metz is a neat illustrator and designer. For his graduation (BA Computer Arts) demo reel, Kurt created this 90 second animated short. Inspired by ERB's John Carter of Mars series, a dashing hero is on a quest to liberate his beloved Princess from a prison chamber located at the top of an immense tower deep in the heart of an enemy city... John Carter of Mars: Drawings of Sets and Locations Design Concepts hosts this very cool page. It contains an archive of Set Sketches for John Carter of Mars 1970's movie version which was never produced. The unfinished designs & drawings were by colored by Bruce Grimes and washed with oils by St John Earp. Simply a must see website. www.kaluta.com (Commissions area of website) Amazing work by an amazing professional illustrator MW Kaluta. Originally hired as a conceptual artist for JCOM, Mr. Kaluta (along with Bill Stout) could not agree on terms with Paramount and left the project after a very brief period. However, on his website, he has a few JCOM illustrations. More than likely, these were done *before* working with Paramount, but who knows for sure? You'll find illustrations of John Carter, Thuvia and Dejah Thoris. ERBZine Presents: The Martian in Sun Bill and Sue-On Hillman at www.erbzine.com have done it again. Somehow, somewhere, they dug up, scanned and posted the original 1959 Sun Weekly comic strip featuring John Carter of Mars. It goes through the whole Princess of Mars Story in weekly installments. Not all have been uploaded yet, but tune in every week JCOM friends! Same JCOM time, same JCOM channel! |
